WELWYN RFC UNDER 10's FLY THE FLAG FOR HERTS RUGBY

Welwyn Under 10 squad were crowned Harlequins EITHAD Curtain Raiser Cup Grand Champions last Saturday at the Twickenham Stoop. Over 60 teams from the South of England entered the competition and had to win two qualifying days just to reach the finals. In the finals Welwyn Under 10's secured their place in the Grand Final by beating Horsham (Sussex), Upminster (Essex) and drawing with Ealing (Middx). In the Grand final Welwyn beat Middlesex County Champions Rosslyn Park by 1 try to nil after extra time.

The first Hertfordshire club in the history of the Mini tournament to be crowned Grand Champions at any age.

This was on the back of this side winning their 4th Herts County Cup in a row at the recent Herts Mini Festival hosted at Fullerians.

Welwyn also won another Cup yesterday (Sunday 9 May) with their Senior 7's side winning the Herts RFU Plate 7-a-side competition, also hosted at Fullerians RFC.
