MATCH PREVIEW
Sunday 21st May
Hertfordshire Elite Women vs Hampshire Ladies
Gill Burns County Championship – Division 2 Pool 1
Hertford RFC
1400 KO
The last two pool games of the Championship will be closely watched as who will be
progressed to next week’s final at Richmond Athletic Ground comes down to the
wire.
With four out of five sides still in the hunt, bonus points will make all the difference so
teams will be sure to be playing the most attacking style possible to give themselves
every chance to make the final.
Hampshire will come with a backbone made up of Trojans players, a fantastic club
side based near the south coast who had another great season this year. Results
and performances will mean the players they contribute to this visiting match day
squad will no doubt be full of confidence to play in their very direct manner.
Following the setback of last week’s heavy defeat suffered away to Bucks, the Herts
team have regrouped an licked their wounds. Training has been about looking
forward and making sure everyone is focused on what is in the players control.
Head coach Grant Hathaway explained “The message after last week was that we
are still in the competition and we must look at how we do all we can to progress.
Bogging ourselves down with the negatives from last week won’t help us,
concentrating on what we do well and how we do more of that will ultimately give us
the best chance of winning this week’s game.
Expect to see a much improved performance from us this week, we know how strong
Hampshire will be and our intensity and edge will be a mark of that respect.”
A number of Herts players are welcomed back to the fray so the team is nearly at full
strength this weekend, meaning that all those who come to watch on Sunday will be
in for an enjoyable afternoon of rugby.
