County Championship 2009-10
Gloucestershire v Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire opens its County Championship campaign for the Bill Beaumont Cup at Lydney RFC on Saturday, May 8th. Gloucestershire will be the formidable opponents and it will not get any easier in the following two matches as the other two opponents in the group are Cornwall and Devon, though these games will be at home at Hertford and Old Albanian respectively.
All Counties have been hampered in their selection by the league season for the National Clubs dragging on into May thanks to the severe winter weather earlier in the year. Hertfordshire are no exception and one or two players are missing from the line up for Saturday. However it is an experienced team travelling to Gloucestershire led by Dave Archer and hopes are high.
The team is:
Tom Newton (Tring); Stuart Smart (Hertford), Nathan Lambden (Loughborough Students), Steve Ellis (Hertford), Ian Crompton (Stevenage Town); Richard Gregg (Old Albanian), Mark Evans (Old Albanian); Adam Gelman (Old Albanian), Matt Cross (Hertford), Rob Schillaci (Hertford), Billy Johnson (Hertford), Scott Quarmby (Stevenage Town), Ian Hardcastle (Hertford), Will Temperley (Luton), Dave Archer (Cambridge) (Capt).
Replacements: Jim Remfrey (Caldy), Charlie Hughes (Old Albanian), Adam Amos (Stevenage Town), Ollie Cooper Miller (Esher), Morgan Thompson (Esher), James Watt (Datchworth)
The match kicks off at 3.00 pm
