Hertfordshire Girls dominate regional selections
14 U18 and 11 U15 girls from Hertfordshire have been selected for the East Region squads following trials last weekend, meaning that close to half the squads in each age band will be Hertfordshire girls. East Region - which draws on players from five counties (Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire) were national champions in the U18 age band last season - so this is an impressive performance by the county's girls.
It is also a historic milestone as these will be the last girls (and women's) regional squads. From next season the 11 women's regions - which have existed since the formation of the RFUW - will disappear and be replaced squads selected to represent the four RFU divisions.
A full list of girls selected can be found on the girls and women's blog
