A good win for Hertfordshire in the final game of this years U16 campaign. The players were presented with their new high performance playing kit kindly donated by Oaklands College by Saracens and former Oaklands college rugby stars Tom Jubb and Nick Auterac.
The team also had the opportunity to be photographed with with Aviva premiership trophy kindly donated by Saracens. Hertfordshire played with great spirt and had a tremendous work ethic enabling their defence to cause turnover after turnover and force Eastern Counties to concede three interception tries in the first half skilfully finished by rising stars James Aylott , Connor Head and Sean O'Connor.
The best try of the day however came from Ed Ellison who was playing against a winger already capped by England at this age group. He picked the ball up at the half way line beat 2 defenders showed great footwork to step outside his man and fended him off with a powerful hand off to race through and score in the corner.
Eastern Counties rallied at half time and showed their quality but the Hertfordshire half backs of Michael Waters and Elliot Reeder showed great composure to keep them pinned in their own half for most of the 2nd half.
We will find out later this week which of the Hertfordshire U16 team have been selected for a London Divisional trial which is another step closer to a possible England Cap.
