MIXED START FOR THE HERTS UNDER 15’S
Sunday 1st March 2009 saw the County Under 15’s travel to Eastleigh Rugby Club where they played Hampshire.
The Herts 1st XV was disrupted after 6 minutes when a Hampshire player dislocated his shoulder resulting in a long wait for the ambulance. Once the game did get going Herts battled well in the forwards but were unable to prevent Hampshire winning 19 points to 5.
The Herts 2nd XV also had their game disrupted when the Herts Hooker, Matt Williams was airlifted by helicopter to hospital as a result of a neck injury late on in the first half.
The second half saw the Herts forwards dominate and turn over a lot of Hampshire ball which resulted in Ryan Toms scoring an excellent solo try in the corner and then converting it with ease resulting in Herts them 12 points to 10.
The coaching team were pleased with some players individual performances and the work and effort by all the forwards in both games but these matches highlighted areas of improvement.
