a) Eligibility
Players must be 14 years old on 1st September.
Players must be attending a school or play club rugby in Hertfordshire. (This is different from the RFU School of Rugby where you must also reside in Hertfordshire)
b) Nomination Process
School Rugby Teachers and Club Head Coaches are invited to select up 5 players for the trials who they believe are capable of playing county rugby.
Any player who attends without having been nominated by their school or club will not be allowed to participate in the trials process.
b) Trials Process
This season we will be holding 4 skill/fitness based trial sessions.
2 will be for clubs/schools in the North & East parts of the county.
2 will be for clubs/schools in the Central & West parts of the county.
Selected Players will be required to attend both sessions in their area.
Players identified from these sessions as potential county players will then participate in a Final Trial, which will be game based.
c) Season
This season we will be selecting a squad of 40 players (including those successful from the School of Rugby) and a stand by squad of 5 players
They will participate in two (2) 1st & 2nd XV squad matches.
Players from within the squad will also be selected to represent Hertfordshire at the Regional and National 10’s Competition’s.
d) Other Information
Members of Last seasons Under 14 County Squad will automatically be invited to attend the skill based trial sessions or the final trial match.
All players attending the trials MUST have a gum shield and correct footwear. Failure to do so will mean no participation.
If possible all players SHOULD NOT wear School or Club playing kit.
