Well Done Tring

I hope you enjoyed the County Tag Tournament held on Sunday at Tring RUFC. We enjoyed having all the players and supporters from our friends around the County. The rain held off (we had just finished clearing everything away and made our way into the clubhouse for a well earned drink and it poured down - good timing!) and 85 teams with a total of 850 registered players arrived at Tring to compete in 3 categories, we believe this is the largest Tag Tournament staged in Southern England, certainly in Hertfordshire, whilst there were a few minor issues (I must learn how to light a BBQ so early morning bacon rolls are available from instance) we feel the day went without major hitches, the results were :

U7s

Cup Competition - "A" teams competed in 4 leagues with the winners of each league going through to the Semi Finals. The final was between Hertford v Letchworth, a frantic game with lots of great attacking from both teams saw Letchworth win to become County Champions.

Plate Competition - For "B" teams, competed in a league format with winners going through to semi finals and then the final, this was between Hertford "B" v OA's"B" teams, OA's won and received the plate from the Saracens player in attendance.

Bowl Competition - The Bowl competition was played in 2 leagues with the winners playing in the final. OA's "D" v OA's "E" with the "D"s running out winners.

U8s

Cup Competition - Again we had 4 leagues of "A" teams, with the winners of each league going into the Semi Finals, The final was between Welwyn v OA's, Welwyn won and are County Champions.

Plate Competition - The plate was also played in league style with Semi Finals and the Final between OA's v Hertford, at full time the score was 3 all, the referee mistakenly played extra time but following consultation with both coaches from the finalists, the plate was shared between the 2 clubs, thank you to both teams for there understanding and agreement to the resolution.

Bowl Competition - The bowl was played in a league format with Welwyn coming top.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL FINALISTS AND WINNERS, but the real winner on the day was rugby, with so many players the future is very bright for Hertfordshire Rugby.

A big thank you to Landrover who sponsored the event, I understand that Hertford (not sure if its U7s or U8s) won the training session with Josh Lewsey for their team. Thank you to the Saracen players who attended the event. We at Tring Rugby wish you all a restful summer and look forward to seeing you all sometime next season.
