RULES OF THE HERTFORDSHIRE RFU
SEVEN-A-SIDE COMPETITION
1. The Herts Seven-a-Side Competition, which is on "knock out" lines, is played annually on a ground to be decided by the General Committee.
2. An entry of one team is allowed from each affiliated club and each associated club not affiliated to another County Union. The entry fee shall be as approved by the Committee from time to time. Any club which fails to field a team on the day will forfeit the entrance fee and may not be accepted for entry into the following year's competition.
3. The competition will be organised by a Sub-Committee appointed by the General Committee, and their decision in any case of difficulty or dispute will be final. The general arrangements for staging the Competition will be the responsibility of the host Club.
4. The Draw will be made at the General Committee meeting nearest to Christmas.
5. Players must be bona fide and regular playing members of the Club for which they play in the Competition. Each Club may nominate up to ten players to the Organising Sub-Committee before competing in its first match.
6. The game is played under Rugby Football Union Laws with seven players on each side. These players may be used in any combination desired but set scrums must always be formed by three players in a row from each side.
7. Replacements for injured players will be allowed in accordance with Rugby Football Union Resolutions. These will be from the nominated ten players in Rule 5.
8. The duration of play shall be seven minutes each way and ten minutes each way in the Final, with an interval of one minute at half-time. In the event of a draw the teams will change ends and, after a one minute interval, continue for five minute spells without further interval until a score takes place which shall decide the match.
9. Should colours clash, the team named first must change.
10. The winners of the Final will hold the "MacMillan" Cup for a period of one year and shall be responsible for its safe custody.
